Retiring at ninety-one years of age, Frank Brown was the night watchman at the Flora-Bama for twenty-eight years. His moral values, integrity and strength live on in the words of songwriters and musicians around the world. For twenty-three years, people have flocked to the Alabama Gulf Coast to celebrate the life of Frank Brown.

With performances in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and the Eastern Shores, the festival features over 150 songwriters, famous and unknown, who open ears with the power of music, whether it be blues, country, gospel or rock and roll. Each of these genres help people view the world in a different light. Even though the mission of the festival is to provide a stage for all types of music to be born, it also reaches out to those in need. Often many of the musicians and artists that perform at the festival visit nursing homes and hospitals as a way to give people a sense of renewal.

One aspect of the festival is that it takes music into the classroom to help nurture music appreciation in children, as well as increasing creativity and educational awareness. The Frank Brown International Songwriter’s Festival always has been and continues to be geared towards the cultural and economic growth of the Alabama Gulf Coast.
