There is something extra exciting about celebrating a holiday on the beaches of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, and Halloween is no different!

On Thursday, October 27^th, The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo will be hosting “Boo At The Zoo,” a fun, family focused event geared towards your “Little Ghosts and Goblins,” from infants to 10 year-olds.

The fun kicks off at 4 p.m. at the Zoo in Gulf Shores, and all are invited to join in the festivities.  There will be a costume contest (at 5 p.m.) and fun and entertainment until the events closing at 6 p.m.

The cost for this event is $1 for adults and $2 for children.

On Saturday, October 8^th, hundreds of local Baldwin County residents and business owners gathered to participate in the 2011 Gulf Coast Heart Walk to benefit the American Heart Association. Through fundraising efforts made by businesses and individuals, more than $300,000 was donated to The American Heart Association.

Kaiser Realty is proud to have been named the “Top Revenue producing Business from bank Night” in this year’s fundraising efforts, raising more than $10,000 as a company.  Kaiser Realty also took home two of the three “Top Walker” awards with Administrative Assistant, Megan Melvin raising the third most money for any individual participant and Marketing Director, Emily Gonzalez raising the most money of any individual participant in Baldwin County.

President/CEO of Kaiser Realty, Leonard Kaiser, was proudly the co-chair for the successful event, and had the pleasure of accepting the “Top Business” award on behalf of the company.

With only a few days left until the kick off of to this year’s Thunder on the Gulf powerboat races, the excitement has already started to build up around the area.

What started as the brainchild of Live Bait owner, Gary Nichols, the inaugural Thunder on the Gulf powerboat race was held in late August of 2003, only months after he and some friends had founded the Gulf Coast Powerboat Association.

With a turnout described as, “The second largest gathering of people in the state,” according to then Governor Fob James, the board of the GCPA was quickly contacted to have a World Championship race, in November of 2003.

The extremely strong beginnings of Thunder on the Gulf are perhaps the reason for its longevity and its cultural significance to the area. The 32 miles of sandy coastline located within (more…)

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores, AL – We have been fishing a fair amount over this month so far and have had some great trips mixed in with some good weather to go with it.  The 4 hour trolling trips are starting to pick back up as the water clears out from Tropical Storm Lee.  We are seeing some impressive number of Spanish Mackerel starting to show up too.  The half day family trips are continuing to be a great trip with lots of fun and smiles for all the family’s who choose this option to spend some time on a charter fishing trip.

The full day trips are doing really good with big Amberjacks right now as that season continues to be just red-hot!  We have had some wonderful catches of Jacks on the full day trips.  Keep in mind on these trips sometimes it is not the hours you are buying but the fuel and you will be happy when you get back to the dock with a cart of pretty fish!

The Car Wash will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kaiser Realty, Inc.’s main office in Gulf Shores. The fundraiser is by donation only.

This event is a part of Kaiser Realty, Inc.’s fundraising efforts to reach their goal of $10,000 for the 2011Gulf Coast Heart Walk, in direct support of the American heart Association. “With such an ambitious goal, we felt the need to focus on a community-centered and family-focused fundraising event,” stated event co-organizer, Megan Melvin.

Heart disease has become an all too common reality for the people of our community, for our family members and ourselves. “By raising money for the American Heart Association and by participating in the 2011 Gulf Coast Heart Walk,” stated Melvin, “I can teach my daughter, by example, how to live a balanced, healthy lifestyle.”
