Shrimp lovers unite! The 38th Annual National Shrimp Festival is set for October 8-11, 2009 in Gulf Shores, AL. Presented by Zatarain’s, Shrimp Fest has become a huge event from its meager beginnings, now easily drawing over 300,000 festival goers over the 4 day event. Peruse the wares of local artisans and sample food from over 300 local vendors. Also, don’t forget about the music. Shrimp Fest 2009 features major recording artists, including Foghat and LeAnn Womack. Admission is free, so bring the whole family and enjoy fresh Gulf seafood, live entertainment, as well as arts and crafts from Gulf Shores area artists and craftsmen.
The 6th Annual John L. Borom Alabama Coastal Birdfest is set for October 15-18 at the 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center on the Causeway between Mobile and Spanish Fort, and registration is now open. Expertly guided tours will take beginner and advanced bird watchers along the 250 mile Alabama Coastal Birding Trail. The Alabama Gulf Coast areas of Fort Morgan, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach have become very popular destinations for eco-tourism. The natural beauty and wildlife in our area is just another great reason to visit.
