Just as the weather is starting to cool down, things are heating up at The Exploreum in Downtown Mobile! Museum-goers of all ages are sure to enjoy the newest exhibit, “Kangaroo Kraze,” hitting the Bay City on October 15^th and lasting through January 2^nd.

Not only will this exhibit feature some great information on our favorite furry long jumpers, but the exhibit will also feature live wallaroos and of course, kangaroos.  Expert kangaroo trainers Carolyn Lantz and Heather Shosho know the distinct characteristics of Australian wildlife, and will be on site to share their knowledge with you! One of the greatest natural resources that we have in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach is the amazing seafood right in our backyard.  From succulent Gulf Shrimp and blue crabs to dozens of different fresh fish to choose from. Making a decision of what to get is the only problem you might have!

For years, the media has coined Bayfest as “The best deal in music,” and this year is certainly no different.

Less than an hour and a half North of the sugar white sand beaches of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, over 125 bands will be hitting the stages and cranking up the volume for the 17^th Anniversary of this three-day Bay Area Music Festival from October 7^th-9^th.

Upon its inception in 1995, the inaugural event boasted over 50,000 people in attendance, no small feat for a county with a population just over 400,000.  This year, event organizers are expecting upwards from 200,000 people coming out for the eclectic weekend festival.

This year, music fans are in for a big treat. With HUGE name Rock, R&B and Hip Hop acts as well as Top 40 sensations gracing the stages, Bayfest has really stepped it up this year.  With a history of big names such (more…)

The Flora-Bama is extending the summer fun and letting the good times roll into the cooler weather months with their upcoming fall concerts, the first of which kicks off on Saturday, September 3rd.

Flora-Bama, best known for huge events such as the famous “Mullet Toss,” is looking to start the season off right with their Beach Concert & Party. With food and drink specials, college football and music by American Idol winner, Taylor Hicks, it is sure to be a party to remember!

Opening for Hick’s are local favorites Rollin’ In The Hay and Spoonful James.

Looking for that perfect reason to take a vacation in October? Look no further than this year’s Thunder on the Gulf, hosted by The Gulf Coast Powerboat Association, October 6th - 9th in Orange Beach.

With the Gulf State Park pavilion as it’s “Race Village,” boat racing and marine fanatics alike can come together and experience something spectacular. From the Boat Parade on Saturday at 6 p.m. winding from Race Village to Main Street at The Wharf, to the Gala taking place afterwards featuring music from the Tip Tops, this is sure to please race fans of all ages.

Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., spectators will be able to watch the preliminary races on Thursday and Saturday and the finals on Friday and Sunday.  The awards ceremony will take place Sunday evening with the winner being crowned the Amsoil Offshore Powerboat (more…)
